Bug Out

I found some interesting info on bugging out:

What you all think? Guess that's why some people live out in the boonies, so they don't have to bug out.

:congrats: Excellent thought-provoking post platinumdude! Bugging out is basically becoming a refugee...the worst possible situation.

These are some great points....

Bugging out to go off and hide in the woods is a fatally flawed idea. It does not work very long, even for the extremely experienced individual. If you have been targeted for any reason, then you are certainly not safe anywhere. Wherever you would go on planet Earth, you are still going to be subject to the very same risk you were while staying at home. The best you could do is buy yourself some time. And then what?

The fairly recent example of Eric Rudolph revealed just how difficult it would be to truly stay hidden and hide out for the rest of your life. Rudolph lasted a few years - but was eventually worn down and ready to quit by the time he was caught dumpster diving. But the lesson here is even hardcore survivalist types cant make it very long on their own. The entire system is turned against them (and so are the people). They are basically stranded with few resources, little or no help and the constant struggle to simply stay alive (welcome to the future by the way).

Bugging out individually is most likely a failed prospect under these conditions. Where would you go? And for how long? Who would hide you? Who would help you? Who would protect you? The reality is - nobody. Youre going to be on your own. The lack of a support structure is going to be fatal.

 Great find platinumdude...lot's of interesting opinions on the site...

This small statement was in the Peak Oil/Global Warming section:

Quote:

The urgency of this report prepared by the worlds top scientists should be matched by an equally urgent response from governments, said Hans Verolme, director of the global climate change program of the World Wide Fund for Nature.
Doing nothing is not an option, he said.
I have to disagree with his theory....

Doing nothing is exactly what will solve the problem...
Shut down the systems and the problem disappears.

Global pollution and unchecked destruction of natural resources were created by the very act of doing something in the name of progress and profit...
Pull the plug...do nothing...problem solved.

Yes,it is an option...but unfortunately that will never happen.
Humans will devour or destroy every last tree and every drop of oil until either the earth revolts and wipes them out as a species...or they cannibalize each other down to the last man standing.

It will take a global disaster of epic proportions to wreck the infrastructure and disable our present way of life to prevent extinction...the coming global resource wars are not a matter of if,but when.

The sound of one hand clapping in the wilderness will never be noticed.
